Bio

Volleyball accomplishments
I have coached volleyball on and off for the last 29 years, ranging from 5th to 11th grade.  My former players have gone to most every school in the greater Omaha area.   They have grown in their education and assumed amazing careers in a variety of fields.  They are good people, good friends, good parents and contribute positively to society.  That’s my favorite volleyball accomplishment, to see them become the people they were destined to be.

Family
Proud father of 3.  2 are in college, 1 is in Pre-School.  Please stop scratching your head.  I enjoy every moment around my kids and as I’m a kid at heart, we still get along very well.  My wife owns a dance studio in NW Omaha and daily lives out her dream of getting kids from all over the city to find their passion through dance.

Spare time
Let’s see…. Watching SportsCenter, gardening, eating peanut M&M’s and watching Disney movies.   If I’m not doing one of those things, consider me asleep.  I pretend to read in my spare time, but I’m actually just stalling until I really have to mow my yard.

Coaching experience

  •  2 summers of Cornhusker State Games
  •  6 years coaching in high school- Freshman and JV
  •  2 years as coach/director of N.O.V.A. (North Omaha Volleyball Association)
  • 1 year coaching Suburban
  • 2 years coaching Y.M.C.A.
  • 1 year coaching St. Vincent de Paul
  • 10 years coaching 12-2’s at Nebraska Elite

What I expect to accomplish
To never stop learning.  To evolve and grow as much as I can.  I pride myself in having what I teach fit my players instead of forcing my players to fit what I teach.  There is always a better way and my job is to find it and put it into action.

Expect from my players
To follow three rules:
1) Be a good person.
2) Be a good teammate.
3) Battle.

That’s all I will ever expect of them.  Following these three, at all times, always leads to the outcome that you want for them as individuals and as a team.

Top VB memories
As crazy as it sounds, it’s not earning a medal at Nationals or winning a tournament.  It’s the nail-biting loss when you see every player/coach give everything they have until the last point.  And then it is the practice right after that when they all show up more determined than ever to grow their game and get better.  They know they have more inside of them and they will do anything to bring that out.  Those are the best memories I have from coaching.
